G-Star Bottoms History

Since its inception in Amsterdam, in 1989 G-Star RAW (commonly called just G-Star) has been producing fashionable urban clothing, Having been made a popular clothing brand among students in Europe.

G-Star was originally named Gap Star but decided to change their name upon going international. The brand specializes in making RAW denim - an unwashed, untreated denim in which all jeans start out as after being constructed.

G-Star's flagship stores are located in New York City, United States and the Netherlands in the most luxurious shopping street of Amsterdam, the PC Hooftstraat. Compared with the USA, the brand is far more famous in the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, and other European countries as well as Japan and Hong Kong is very popular in Sweden and the other countries in the north.

Their clothing is frequently used in runway modelling. It was showcased at the New York Fashion Week in 2008 and 2009.

Over the course of its history, G-Star’s groundbreaking products have been formally recognised by the fashion industry; a host of awards, the Dutch ‘Grand Seigneur’ and ‘Best Denim’ SIFA to name just two, have fuelled G-Star’s ambition to lead the way in denim innovation.
